YouTube SEO Tips
YouTube is also a search engine. When someone searches for a topic, YouTube tries to show the videos that best match and satisfy that search. Good SEO helps it understand your video.
1. Find topics people search for
Type your topic into the YouTube search bar and look at the suggestions that appear. These are real searches. Also check the questions your viewers ask in comments.
2. Use the keyword naturally
Include your main keyword in the title, in the first lines of the description and, when it fits, in the spoken script. Do not stuff many keywords. Write for humans.
3. Write a useful description
- First two lines: say what the video is about, with the main keyword.
- Then add a short summary and links to related videos.
- Add chapters (timestamps) for longer videos so viewers can jump to the part they need.
4. Use tags and hashtags lightly
Tags have only a small effect. Add a few accurate ones, including common misspellings if relevant. Two or three relevant hashtags are enough.
5. Add subtitles
Subtitles help viewers who watch without sound and people who speak other languages. Check automatic captions for mistakes.
6. Make viewers happy
No SEO trick beats a video people click and enjoy. Good click-through rate and watch time are the strongest signals you can improve.
